Sweater Weather

Tis the season for sweaters and carbs. And a new chapter in my life…a baking blog with K! We've talked forever about opening a bakery together and this is a step in that direction. We're very excited!!

To anyone who stumbles across this…please hop on over to Long Distance Baking for all our recipes and adventures!

I'm not sure if I'll keep this blog or not, but while we get started with LDB I'll be doing all my posting there. I hope you come take a look!

I Knew You Were Trouble

Every one loves wedding festivities, but maybe we love them a little too much...

We couldn't wait for Bri to get married! We all went to x-ray school together and now with our crazy hospital shifts...we rarely all get together anymore.
Who knew radiology girls could clean up so nice?! B. and I both had to work the next morning...but that didn't stop us from going out for the bachelorette party. Let's just say the following day was not my favorite day of work.

Then came the wedding...
Bri was a beautiful bride and I couldn't be happier for her and her new hubby! I just hope we're still invited to any future family activities :)

Let Them Be Little

I'm beginning to understand, if only just a little, how mothers feel watching their children grow up. I can't believe how big this guy is getting! I need it to stop...NOW! He's running around and starting to talk...and it's just not ok. I need him to stay my little snuggle bug forever. Aunt Stephy Lou loves you! ♥
My other "child", Mosby, wasn't so sure about the loves he was getting. His face says it all!

Hey Soul Sister(s)

First road trip in awhile! Headed up north to visit family, friends and so the BF could watch his Arizona Wildcats beat up on the poor Cougs.
I was so so so happy to be reunited with these 3 girls! L, C, E and I were inseparable in high school and are now scattered across the Northwest. I'd like to think we're usually gracious hosts and keep our boyfriends involved in conversation...but this night was all about us. Sorry boys...entertain yourselves!

We Went Out Last Night

K. finally came to visit!! Eeeekkkk so excited!! We did our typical pretend-to-be-fancy-and-healthy-and-make-pinterest-recipes-and-shop-at-whole-foods routine, drank lots of huckleberry wine, and even did some hot yoga! (although it was really to detox before filling our body with liquid calories on New Year's Eve). I loved showing her Boise! Now she just needs to visit in the summer.

New Year's Eve was K. and I, Roomie, LJ, and KLS from work...no boys allowed! It was 12 degrees or some ungodly temperature that night...so tights and boots were the accessories of choice! Poor K, coming from warm LA to the frigid tundra.

We started at the Reef and got some food and a few fish bowls of deliciousness...then headed down to Roddy's to dance the night away! Rang in the New Year, then headed home for some late night Pie Hole.

New Year's Day was spent on the couch watching chick flicks and napping...and it was all worth it! So fun to actually dress up and go out for New Year's...I may need to start doing this every year!

This Christmas

It was a Christmas in Utah kind of year...the best kind!! Christmas fell on a weird day and I had to work prior, so I took an early AM Christmas Eve flight to meet the fam in Salt Lake. Did some shopping at City Creek, visited Grandma, and had the usual Christmas Eve party at Aunt J and Uncle N's. We were even lucky enough to get a White Christmas!

I love this cousin picture....just for Sister's dramatic face!

Merry Christmas!

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Since getting hired, I've been so excited for the Gem State Radiology Christmas party! Our radiologists host a party for ALL the radiology employees at ALL of our hospitals. Which is incredibly nice of them. But that meant 1) work people would get to see me outside of scrubs 2) BF would get to meet my coworkers and 3) I would get to see all my friends from other hospitals!! Oh and I had an excuse to go shopping for a new dress.

Then we held our annual ugly sweater party at our house. I must say...there were some pretty ugly ones! Even the boys dressed up! Roomie and I made Mulled Wine and Hot Buttered Rum and of course had 8 million cookies to share. The end result was wayyyy too much fun. And work was not quite so much fun the next morning.

We Need A Little Christmas

Saying Roomie and I love Christmas would be an understatement. However we held it together and waited until the end of October to decorate. Trust me...that's pretty good for us!

This year we did a booze-y tree...it was so fun!! We decorated the white tree with mini shots from the liquor store. We figured this is the one time in our lives where that's acceptable, so why not?!

Mosby was generally a scrooge the whole Holiday season, but he did enjoy the ribbon. The hat? Not so much.

Then the baking started. We thought it would be fun to see how much of each ingredient we used throughout the season so we kept a tally. Pretty impressive for just the 2 of us! Almost all of the treats went as gifts...once I'd made that many I didn't feel like eating any cookies anyways.

For my friend gifts I did these cute wine/sock combos I found on Pinterest (naturally). Then my coworkers all got hot chocolate and bailey's mugs. I'm trying not to look too much into the fact this entire post has revolved around alcohol...

Last but not least, the yearly Christmas card! Ugly sweaters required. Even Mosby wore his! Took us a couple tries...but we finally got it. Merry Christmas everyone!

Lucky

With my new job the holiday schedule works out pretty well. Each person only has to work 1 holiday a year, and some are as easy as 4th of July or Labor Day. And that's it! Then sometimes you get the less fun holidays...like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I of course got Thanksgiving my first year here. And of course it was one of the few years my birthday falls on...wanna guess what? Yep...Thanksgiving. I threw myself a mini pity party...then got over it. Because that just meant my family would be joining me in Boise for Thanksgiving this year!

It worked out perfectly because Roomie was back home visiting her family, so my fam just stayed at my place! Dad and I did our birthday gifts together, since I missed his a few weeks prior. I was on call most of the weekend, but we still managed to explore the new Whole Foods in Boise, supervise Dad making delicious Thanksgiving dinner, and go to the Festival of Trees. It was sooo pretty!! I want to decorate a tree like that someday. Mosby was a typical grinch and was none too pleased with all the holiday cheerfulness.

This year I am so thankful for my amazing family and being able to spend the holiday with them!
